New season styles from Clae have just landed. A standout model from this range has to be the Ellington. Which is available in walnut suede brick with red sole and a dope leather/suede black option. As they say over at Clae “the Ellington delivers sophistication without pretension”. Another big winner from this line is the classic Khan model(featured above). This time around in a grizzly nubuck finish. A very rugged yet refined shoe that does not compromise on comfort with a custom footbed and leather-lined interior. The nubuck exterior and leather laces have to be one of the best combinations in footwear design and this model ticks all the boxes. Also the good people over at Clae have been thinking about us cold soles over here on the ‘island’ of Norway and have come up with a new winter model called the Jones. The new shoe has been designed to fit the rigors of a cold winter but with distinct sophistication that won’t go unnoticed. Subtle styling including a minimal embossed logo on a classic outline make this shoe a sure fire winner for the colder months ahead.

‘Hunter Jacket’ by Indian born, London based industrial design graduate Rohan Chhabra is an outer apparel design that transforms into a wall mount of a ram’s head. In doing this,
the jacket signifies a ‘trophy’ and makes reference to the reward system associated with hunting. The transformation narrates the use/function of the jacket. Full article over at DesignBoom

Vive Le Tour!

Gourmet founders Greg Johnsen and Jon Buscemi talk about their indie footwear brand from its original concept through to future projects. Whilst cooking up lobster sandwich’s. they draw similarities between the use of the finest ingredients in cooking and their similar aim for their brand. info via Frank 151

“Second Son and their extended family member Nash Money have finally got around to making a collab. Internationally known for his intricate, hand-sewn custom sneakers, Nash has recently dropped a new shoe designed from scratch for DC and has another coming soon with Lacoste. Meanwhile Second Son have been steadily expanding their range to include a selection of classic cut ‘n’ sew pieces with unusual detailing, but they were originally known for their graphic tees so that’s where the pair decided to begin the collaborative process.
The last few times they worked together led to Nash wearing a fake horse’s head, firing shotguns and getting trapped in the G20 police cordon for six hours (not all at the same time). So for this project they played it safer by staying in the studio and coming up with a collaborative t-shirt design instead. Nash has transferred his signature moccasin cross stitch from sneakers to clothing with a enlarged photographic print that circles the entire hem of the tee, topped off with a collaborative logo crest at the chest pocket. Since Nash magnified his stitching for the design, Second Son shrank him down for their photoshoot to fit in with a selection of his hats, shoes and the tools of his trade. The t-shirt is available now in two colourways: Nash’s trademark electric blue on a white tee and bright teal on black.”

The legend, Malcolm McLaren has passed away, aged 64. Malcolm was a true fashion and music icon. From his ‘Sex’ shop on the Kings Road in the early seventies, founder of the Sex Pistols, through to his recent collaboration with Supreme, he was a true pioneer. Rest in Peace!
