The third book in an ongoing series from the seminal West Coast art and culture magazine, Juxtapoz Poster Art focuses on the art of screen print posters. In the past 10 years screen printing has ballooned in popularity and a new class of artists has emerged. These artists stepped away from the psychedelic posters of the ’60s and developed their own aesthetic-incorporating everything from hand-drawn type to found objects. Their posters have become sought-after collectors items for art and music fans alike. So you practice a minority sport for the last 15 years with your only hope of fame being a novelty feature on a dumb ass Saturday night entertainment show. Then all of a sudden and thanks to the fixed gear freestyle scene developing in a parallel universe. All you need to do is lose the leotard, get yourself a hipster makeover and grab yourself a a win at the fixed gear comp. Would make a great film!

Love these pieces from Nick Walker in LA. They make me wonder whether the size of a dog directly corresponds with IQ level of the owner, Bigger the dog, Bigger the IQ and smaller the dog, Smaller, well you get the picture.

So Øya Festival is just around the corner. Which means its nearly time for the whole city to get ready for a week(ish) long party with one of the most interesting Festival line ups of the summer. We are gonna a pick out a few treats on the run up to the Festival.
Looking good for a low end bass assault this year. UK dubstep pioneers roll into town with their supergroup Magnetic Man. Skream and Benga both out of the Dubstep mecca Croydon, UK have been making music since their early teens and have helped shape the the sound of modern dubstep. With dubstep coming in to it’s own worldwide and the quality of records being produced being at the highest level, its the perfect time for Skream and Benga to take their show and sound worldwide.
Magnetic man Play Odden at Øya on Friday 20.45 and and then a DJ set from Benga and Skream at the excellent Villa club later the same evening. Expect speaker testing sonic bombs for the duration.

Monsieur T is a small streetwear label based in Portland, Oregon and run by Quentin T. The label collaborates with various artists on printed tees. Talented artists such as Emil Kozak and Ryan Berkley are entrusted with delivering designs which in turn make up a pretty varied collection. There is an underlying theme throughout the range with all involved being intrinsically linked with Skateboarding, Snowboarding and Music Culture. The label which started in 2004 has been heavily featured in publications such as URB, Vapors, Antenna, Streetwear Today and as you can see by the T’s featured here there is good reason.
